Overview: |
The Worlds, referred to as Realms by the indigenious senientent life-forms, span the wide variety of types and sizes. There are specific denziens for each of these Realms, although most can visit or migrate to the main Home World. The Empire is named after the main home world, and many times one is mistaken for the other. Even so, the main government hiearchy is that of Kings, Lords, Dukes, Merchants/ Guild Rights, peasents, and vassals. The social structure is determined not only by birth but by which breed of being you were born as. You see only Dragons have the right to rule, and those of the half-dragon breed many hold high postions amoung the gentry. It is a very strict social structure, for to be "dragonless" is to become a dragon's next meal. The dragons have their own language, but all denziens are taught a "common toungue" no matter what Realm they hail from orginally. The entire area is a biological zone, yet it still holds great mystical powers. This can only be explained through the Ortis Cloud which Surrounds the entirity of the Empire's Systems. This Cloud is the last remnents of the once completly magical zone. It is the reason why Tir' Kna' Torrick has yet to lose its now genetically inherent "magical" properties. Here also is the home of the mysterious sentients called the Spectrals. They and the Void Dragons keep the Realms from harm or invasion by the bending of reality around an object or person. This is the main means of interstellar travel, and first defense of their Homes.

Technology: |
The technology on any of the Knarin realms varies from realm to realm. The common factor between all is the fact that higher tech dosen't necessarily mean non-fuctional. Through research and advanced experimentation, many great scholars determined that those items which are primarily complex mechanical devices do not operated properly. This goes to such an extent that they may cease functioning all together, or may reverse their appointed processes. Simple machines on the other scale can, and do preform their functions well.
Example:
Yet the High-Tech of silicon, or similar energy-condutes (computer chips, etc....., hint, hint, hint) are extremely stable within any of the Knarin worlds. Not many use this tech, as most prefer to abide by the High Queen's Laws. Many though are taught in is use and construction. This is what the Deep-Void Dragon Lair (Space Station) uses as it primary "Linking" modifier. It seems that anything which utlizes the flow and flux of energies rather than "capturing" them, works.

Magic: |
Mysticism, and genetically inherent "magical" abilities abound throughout the Empire. Some races can harness the underlying powers of the leys, other can tap into the life-fluxs around them. Many though are bound by the Laws of the Elements, and can only control specific effects. Those that try otherwise might be capable of producing the desired effects, but their inherent genetic structure is either disabled in some way, or they are changed physically. The only beings which do not suffer from these effects are those that can harness the Flux elementals. These beings are rare, with one born to each race of Sentients every Dragon's Age (3,ooo cycles -very similar to "Terran" years-). Not all the denziens of Tir' Knar' Torrick can wield this magic, in fact only 1 in 20,000 has the "Control Factor" (CF) in their genetic make-up. All others of this Empire have what they consider the "racial ability". This is their specific trait that makes them different from the rest of their Gensis.
Example:
Each Taur species has a cetain advantage, or racial ability that the others can only duplicate through spell use, or potions. UniTaurs can heal most any wound, wether it is a mortal wound or just a scratch. Canitaurs are warriors and run in packs, they can defeat any foe if there are three or more of them facing a common enemy, (augumented strength and agility). Pegataurs are excellent flyers and have the very uncommon ability to direct a crowd's behavior. Pegataurs are usually used by most dragon as commanders or scouts and spies for their armies. ETC....,

The systems of the Empire include six inhabitated Star-systems (Tir' Knar' Torrick Home System, Vance, Torshe, Tir' Knar' Eves', Gaea Matris, Mortis Malefactor, and Treekle), two mostly un-explored Star systems (Drayko Mortis, and Drayko Malefactor), and one binary system that the Void Dragons call home (Void Drayko Torrick). There are other systems out there, but most are asteriod rings, Ortis Stars, or too far away to properly explore. Tir' Knar'Torrick Home System (Dragon Star for short) has three (human-based)habitable planents, two gas-giants, an Ice-planet, and the Hell-World. Its direct translation is Allura's Greater Realm. Vance (Va-ance), else know as Young-Flame, is a very young Star, so it only has one (human) habitable planet, the other four are Gas giants, with the farthest being an Ice-Giant Torshe (pronounced like Porshe with a T) is a binary waiting to happen. One of its Gas giants is collasping and soom will become a star of its own. This system is the most highly revered by the Dragons, as its planets reflect each element of the Holy Mother (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Metal, Essence, Bodi, Flux). aka, there is one planentary body for each element, and each planet is composed of one element in all it forms. This name has no direct Translation, but is instead named after the First Child of Allura. Tir'Knar'Eves (pronounced Tear, K-nar, Ee-vis) means Allura's Greater Eye. Is a system of immense beauty. It is located in the center of an "Ortis Anomoly". This is where part of the Ortis Cloud extends a tendril and encompasses a system, then leaves. Yet most of its "mist" remains. This is only happened once during the dragon's collected memory. From a distance it looks like a sparkling, color-shifting (human-like) iris. The center is the system itself, and although the cloud does not touch it, it swirls around it. This is the Home System of the Fae. All five planets are habitable by most carbon-based, humaniods. Gaea Martris (guy-Ah Mae-triss) is the only system that has a binary planet system....,, very odd. The diret translation means The Mother's Womb, and rightly so. This is a system of creation and possibility. Most mechanical devices will work here with only a few hang ups, inculding the more complex ones that will not function properly in other Realms. Scholars say it is the rapid changes to gravity and the systems most basic essence that makes this possible. This is the only place one can find the rare Mech-Dragon, for these beings cannot survive off world at all for long...., although they have been working on a "special" device..., but they keep any such inventions to themselves. Mortis Malefactor (More-tiss mal-Fact-or), or Dangerous Death World is the system that the Draco-litchs call home. For these are the Realms of the Dead and dying. (Much like an elephant graveyard) The dragons use this system as thier burial place. Other denziens have taken up this tradition, and to have your relatives taken a-dragon to their final resting place is a high honor indeed. Here the arts of Flux, Bodi, Essence and Air are combined as a sort of Necromancy. It's not the true Death-Magic, so like the Mech-Dragon the Draco-litchs cannot leave their worlds. All 4 planets are habitable, but for obvious reasons no-one but the dead go there. ~shiver~ Treekle (Tree-kull), or Fluffy Toys, is the system where most of the Anthro- or humaniod- animal sentients can be found. There are two jungle planets, one Mostly-Ice Realm, one desert planet, and two "dead" planets. It was the first Realm/planet discovered by the Void Dragons. Before the Concords, they loved to "play" with these fuzzy, fur covered beings. Drayko Mortis (Drae-ko More-tiss), Dragon Danger has two Gas-planets, one black planet, and six others, all of which have been explored only minimally. Why? Well take a look at the name. Drayko Malefactor (Drae-ko mal-Fact-or) is known in the translation as ...., Dragon Death. This system is the one the dragons send ther most dangerous and reviled criminals, as wellll as any intruders who have made their "most wanted" list. Suffice to say no-one has returned from this system...., ever.
Void Drayko Torrick (V-Oui-d Drae-ko Toor-rick) is the Void Dragons Realms. Its binary system is a severe one that only the Void dragons can withstand for long. The secondary star has its own planet, which the Voids use as breeding grounds, and a hatchery. The other two planets in the system are lush and wild. One of which is habitated by a number of beings..., saddly enough most of those are seitients and very few other life-forms exist there, so they must feed off of one another. The Voids leave them in peace, watching their struggles and learning great wisdom from it. This is the only planet that the Rule of Dragons doesn't reach...., no-one here really lives long enough for it to matter in the dragons' eyes.

Population: |
The total population of Tir' Knar' Torrick maxs out at over 100 billion sentient life-forms. 5% are human, 10% are dragon, 5% are Spectrals, 78% are demi-or Anthro- humaniods, the last 2% are of those beings made up of Spectral and innanimate objects, know only as Guardians. |

Government: |
The main Governing system of the Empire is that of a Cyclical, heriditary, Monarchy.Tir' Kna' Torrick system of governance was designed in the pre-history of dragon memory-records. The legends state that they were given a world to protect from harm and destruction. They were also given the system of how to Govern, by their patroness Allura. Each Clan gets a Dragon-Cycle to Rule (every 3x3,000 cycles) in which the last child of the previous King is to rule. As the Ruling Cycle progresses, those whose Clan will gain the crown (the up-cycle, or Anri Vashes-translation "the Asending Firestorm") are garnered more respect and privaledges amoung dragon-kind. Of course, those who "lost" the crown (the down-cycle, or Destro Vespor -translation "the Desending Flame") are not as respected, nor gifted amoung the other dragon Clans. The Clan who currently has one of their own on the throne (the King, or Vashes Vespor "the Firestorm Flame", aka the Phenoix) are given the greatest respect and honored in all things. Even the previous Ruler will stand aside and abide by the new King's laws, though they might revoke or contridict the Destro's own. Thus is war kept from the Empire, internally. All believe in the wisdom of their Patroness Allura, and that Her will shall guide them. The title King is just that, a title. Either gender may rule as King, for the tradition goes that Allura is the High Queen and has the right to choose Her King. (aka "Fate") Those who are not the High King are Lords of their own lands and such. They "employee" below them the postions of Duke or Dutchess. Each dragon holds a court and "watches" over a specific protectorate. Sometimes a dragon's protectorate is within another dragon's domain, but its usually by a dragon of the same Clan. Below these Dukes are the Merchants and the Guilds. The dragons have given these powers a "voice" called the Councils. They act as a sort of democracy for the middle-ranked, but the Dragon Lord's word is still law. Those that argue with the Lord, with no just cause (in the dragon's eyes) will suffer for their "stupidity". Most dragons are not tolerant with uprises, or unruley and rude underlings. Most of them get "toasted". Below them are the workers and laborers, the peasents. These do not have a specific master, but normally align themslves with the Dragon Lord's Clan. This is more for respect and protection then by belief or choice. Below that are the vassals, those who owe or are born into a type of self-induced slavery. They work the lands for food and shelter, or work in the Dragon Lord's Lair as servants. Peasents have the right to choose where they will work or live..., vassals can not. Foreign Policy:Most of Tir'Knar' Torrick is closed off from the rest of the Greater Galaxy. This may seem like a xeno-phobic reaction, but as any might know dragons are very protective of their territories and underlings. Only Void Dragons or Spectrals can be contacted easily enough. Yet, if one has an alliance with the dragons of Tir' Knar' Torrick, they will find in them a vallant and loyal ally. Anger or ~shiver~ enrage them and you will have a most potent and dealy foe.
The dragons are intrested in the trade of information and "treasure". Yet will open trade in other areas if they find something to their liking. They are scholars after all, no matter how big and mean they can seem. Schools, Universities, Libraries, Research centers, and the like are specialties. Art is a fascinastion to them, and will buy, sell, trade or riddle for any intresting pieces they come across.
If one wants to trade with any of the other denziens for any special goods they might have, one must first petition the Lord of that domain first. The first thing asked is permission for a Gateway to be established on the allied home world. This is so those who cannot travel by Void dragon or Spectral, can do so without the aide of said beings. This is a major step in any Outside relations for the dragons, for not only does it open up their Realms to a hazard, but also opens up their ally's worlds to possible hurt as well..., especially if the portals don't "work". If a group tries any agressiveness, or rudeness towards even a vassal of the Realms, the dragons will hold council with the reigning King...., to decide retribution. Most serious agressors, or those who threathen the Empire and its security will be dropped from any trade agreements, et al, and considered an enemy. Any Citizen of Tir' Knar' Torrick is responsible for harming or chasing off any intruders of the agressor's citizentry. This sitpulation ususlly stands for a Dragon's Age, by then most governments have either changed hands, or have changed entirely. Thusly after such a time, the High Council will then allowed any petitions for Alliance to the "Consideration Table". Wether or not the Council sees a changed of heart, they will then bring the petition to the reigning King for a final decision.
Domestic Policy:The dragons rule by the right of divine intervention, yet they are not totalitarian. They are protectors and keepers of the Empire, and rule with wisdom and justice. Of course not every dragon is the same, and neither are the Clans they are aligned with so each Ruling Monarch has a different set of policies and agendas. The government itself stays the same, the way each King rules changes each Dragon-Cycle. |
Society: |
Languages:There are numerous languages and dialects used by the denziens of Tir' Knar' Torrick. There is a primary toungue that is learned by all, and is considered the Commoner's Toungue. Those involved in the government or High Social fares learn the Dragon's High Speech. Each race has its own language, and each Realm of similar races have different dialects. For dragons this is no problem, as they have centuries in which to learn each and ever language. For the other denziens...., most only learn up to 6 (including the different dialects). Religion:There is no exact religion, but all see Allura as the patron Goddess of Tir' Knar' Torrick. There is no specific religion to speak of, but there is an overwhelming love and reverence of Life and the Realms as living "mothers". |
Economy: |
The main monetary usage is found through out the Courts and Clans. The main coinage is based on the current King's
Clan. This might sound unstable, as those who market with one money-type might find themselves very poor with the change of rulers.
That is why the Imperial Coin is used as a balance, and several bnaking instutions are used as information centers.
When a King assumes the throne, all coinage based upon that rulers clan is made more valuable, yet the prevoius King's Coin isn't just trashed, but converted. Thus a Silver King's Coin becomes (or is traded value-for-previous-value) a Golden Kings' coin. The Imperial Coin is a main stay and has a pheonix emblazoned on one side and the image of Allura on the other. This coin is only circulated through the Imperial Courts. Any commoner owning one is either a theif or has done an extremely honorable task for the King. Money wise it is nigh useless to any commoner or vassal, but when shone all establishments are expected to give the Coin's owner anything they might need (not want but need). The use of such a Coin is always recorded so that the Imperial Treasure Kypeer may re-emburse those of their wares. All coinage value is based on the Imperial Treasury. This is the main source of system-wide trading agreements. The Treasury is maintained by the dragons and their vassals. Each dragon donates a portion of their treasure trove to the Imperial Treasury. This allows the Treasury to stay as the center of all monetary transactions. Other wise all other items are traded for, or bartered for. This includes both physical wares, services, and food-stock, as well as the non-physical tutoring, Favors, and teaching. |
Military: |
Tir' Knar' Torrick has a layered-system of defense. The first is the Ortis Cloud. This is a barrier of once-mystical potent energies.
It slows down 90% of all visitors as it acts very much like an extremely thick fog. There is also an astriod filed within the cloud
that cannot be seen until up upon it. Next are the Spetrals and the Void Dragons. They protect the
Realms and their systems by warping space around themselves and anything that is in contact with them. A special manuver
created by the Mech-Dragons is an energy net which enhances the Void's power and spreads it out like a net.
These are all non-agressive acts, as the dragons would rather not invoke war with other systems. Next in line are the planetary defenses. These are also conducted by the Spectrals and the Void Dragons. After that are the Realm-based millitary units, mostly made up of voluenteers, knights, and lower Ranking Lords and nobles. Then each kingdom and court has a vast number of units for their personal protection. Of course dragons are not one who will hide behind their forces, and are usually upfront fighting the enemy themselves. They are inherently protectors after all. |
