You have the choice of heading away from the life-forms or towards them. Either option isn't advisable, but its better then just sitting here doing nothing. You figure that if you head towards the life-forms, they might know how to get you and your crew out of this "fog" and to your destination. Yet, you don't know if they are kind and benign life-forms, or if they might be highly hostile. Also Trying to travel around the field might not be such a wise choice after all. Who's to say that it doesn't surround the planet and its sister-systems entirely? Then again, it could be a localized occurance, or even only a ring. Considering that the sensors do not reach as far, one cannot properly judged the depth or length of this field.
